last dayyyy
On the last day, we started off waiting for someone in the council foyer to help organize the Harmony Day event. We helped this person, John to place speakers, tables and chairs for the event. We then explored every other part of the council buildings like the roof which had an amazing view. After we were supposed to pack the rest of the reference books but John insisted on packing them. So we basically played basement cricket again which was pretty fun. Then we got some of the orange helium balloons which the volunteers blew and we both sucked in some of the helium and having a laugh. We headed off to lunch then after we did the normal library duties, fixing shelves, scanning books and palcing them back onto the shelves.

4th day
Today we pretty muc did the same thing as yesterday with the packaging of the reference books from the basement and the library work with all the pacing the books back on the shelves. Today me and Jeffrey helped out someone with a helium tank to put back into the town hall lobby. While we were packing the books we got bored so we started to play cricket with a maskng tape and and orange marking cone with one of the boxes as stumps. Down at the library we also met two of our other friends while we were fixing the shelves. thats pretty much it, very hard work....
3rd day
On wednesday, me and Jeffrey had to pack the reference books from the basement and take them up to the lobby in boxes and stack them up. It was pretty boring and we did that for about 2 hours then we had our break, I had a subway sandwhich. After eating we headed off to the internet cafe for about half an hour. We then got a job to do with the letters being sent to the people of the Ashfield council. We had to place the stickers of the peoples names and addresses on the envelopes. Afer we were done we just procrastinated with a masking tape roll chucking it around. Then we had to do another job of placing 2 flyers about the events that are happening in Ashfield next week into the envelopes to send to people. We then jsut did normal library services like fixing up books on the shelves and discharging them as well as putting books back on the shelves.

2nd Day
Today, We arrived at the library around 9am and we stayed there for around 20 minutes until we got called up by Kathy. Kathy was going to take us to the Summer Community Centre from 10:30 to 12:00, where she was story telling for the little babies and then she read and sang rhymes with toddlers. It was pretty "hectic". We met George who was the manager for the community centre, and he and Kathy where talking about the complaints from the Yoga people, because apparently Kathy's singing is too loud. We then went off the lunch. I had Thai and Jeff had a Kebab. We met some of ur friends who are also doing work experience around here. After we then did normal librarian duites like placing the books back on the shelf aswell as discharging books. We then got on the computers and recorded the books needed to be taken to some simultaneous reading competition. Yeah, thats it.

About me
My name is Suvra Mondal, I attend school at Sydney Technical High School. My favourite subjects are Science, PD/H/PE and History/Geography. At school I am mostly known as a wise cracker who enjoys "school". My favourite hobbies is definately playing cricket for my schools 1st grade team as well as for Ashfield Cricket Club. I just started to play the acoutic guitar which I am enjoying heavily because it takes me out of the stress i endure from school. My type of music is anything mainstream ie. Michael Buble, Lady GaGa, as well as rock from the 70's onwards, Zepplin, Kiss, Van Halen.
I today had work experience at the Ashfield Municpal Council Library, which I wish was bigger due to the construction next to the original library. I had many responsibilities like organising and maintaining books, discharging books meaning that they have been scanned aand are ready to be placed backed on the shelves. I have also experienced how to talk to customers in the library, if they had issues like overdue books. My employer, Alex Mills showed me around the council block for the municipality showing me what the people who work for the council control around the municipality, such as the wonderful ladies who do customer service and take complaint calls from angry "old" people. Alex also showed me the buisness side of Ashfield, as well as the archives.
The library is a great place to meet new people, I have even met people i know from around here. It is FILLED with many hard workers who work for the council. I definately enjoyed my first day as a librarian.
